I never add any water. As already mentioned here, I think adding water to whisky dilutes it and kills more flavour than it reveals.

Sazerac 18 year old rye is superb and a must try. Also Van Winkle rye is good.

Lagavulin 16 would be my choice of Islay malts.

Ardbeg 10yo and the Laphroaig 10yo are also very good choices IMHO and very good value.

Also Bowmore do have a great choice as already mentioned h ...

The Highland Park 12 for me then then the Balvenie 2nd.
