If you have never liked any whisky you.have tasted I doubt you would like Lagavulin, it is quite an acquired taste, it is a very peaty whisky. I would agree.

I haven't got a hold of a bottle yet but it is always possible that it could be a peated Bunnahabhain

It's not impossible but Bunna does tend to come at 46% - of course the final ABV might be more ...
