Tamdhu, the exclusively sherry cask matured Speyside single malt whisky has made it a double after clinching two top industry accolades in The Scotch Whisky Masters 2019, a competition which aims to find and reward the world’s finest Scotch whiskies.

The sherried single malt picked up the top Master Award in the ‘Single Malt: Speyside – Aged 13-18 Years’ category for its Tamdhu 15 Year Old and also picked up a Gold Award in the ‘Single Malt: Speyside – Super Premium’ category for its Tamdhu Batch Strength 004,

Tamdhu only launched its new limited annual release 15 Year Old earlier this year to complement its collection in domestic and travel retail markets globally, bottled at 46% ABV, non-chillfiltered and natural colour, Tamdhu 15 Year Old has been matured in American and European Oak Oloroso seasoned casks.

After 15 years in these casks, the result they say is a complex and rich single malt whisky that delivers a nose of apple pastry, spiced currants and orange zest with notes of pineapple and fennel. The palate delivers juicy apricot and vibrant raspberry, with lemon tart and almonds. The finish is a rewardingly long journey through malt biscuit, cream sherry and vanilla.

Launched in March, Tamdhu Batch Strength 004, bottled at 57.8%, is the fourth edition in Tamdhu’s popular Batch Strength Series. By its very nature, each batch in the series is distinctive, differs slightly in style and strength and is bottled Non-chillfiltered.

Tamdhu Batch Strength 004 boasts a complex richness, deep intensity and natural colour which should please any big sherried whisky fans. The scarce wood of the sherry cask bears two great gifts; colour and taste. The deep copper hue of Tamdhu Batch Strength 004 is developed by the oak cask, nothing more – and each drop owes its rich, complex taste to its Oloroso cask home.

Commenting on the latest award success for Tamdhu, Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu Distillery Manager said: "It’s brilliant to see the exceptional quality of Tamdhu recognised by another well-respected industry competition. We’re extremely proud of our exclusively sherry cask matured single malt and we’re delighted to see Tamdhu 15 Year Old and Tamdhu Batch Strength 004 have been so well received by the judging panel."

Tamdhu 15 Year Old is bottled at 46% ABV and has a RRP of £84.99 per bottle. The Tamdhu Batch Strength 004  is bottled at 57.8% ABV and has an RRP of £74.99 per bottle.

Tamdhu’s full single malt whisky range also includes Tamdhu 12 Year Old, along with two new travel retail exclusives, Tamdhu Ámbar 14 Year Old, Tamdhu Gran Reserva First Edition and Edinburgh Airport Exclusive Single Cask.

Owned by family firm, Ian Macleod Distillers, Tamdhu uses only Oloroso sherry seasoned American and European oak casks which are crafted in the family cooperages and bodegas of Jerez for up to 6 years before beginning their journey to Scotland, it is these casks which give the single malt its natural, dark amber colour and intense richness on the palate.

You will find current Tamdhu whisky range available to buy from specialist online whisky retailers s such as The Whisky Exchange and Master of Malt
