Description: Magilligan Peated traces its history back to the bygone era when Connemara farmers used, in the malting process, and for distillation fuel, hand cut peat from the west coast. Each cask has been hand picked by the Master Blender at the Cooley distillery. Only the best of casks will be bottled as Magilligan. 8 year old Irish peated malt whiskey from the Cooley Distillery. This 8 year old vintage 1992 is matured in bourbon casks, selected from a batch of only 5 casks.
Tasting Notes: A malt with plenty of character. A fine example of a coastal or island malt. On the nose the phenols are quite intense. Iodine and peat dominate the structure of the malt, followed by floral and vanilla notes. On the palate it is a well balanced malt. A combination of peat, peppery notes and honey. The finish is long leaving trails of sweet and floral essences.
