Description: Now that all there is left of the legendary 17 year old is a knowing smile on a few lucky malt lovers faces, Ardbeg has deemed it time to release another mid-teenage bottling. This 1990 vintage bottling is essentially a 16 year old (a prelude to a proper Ardbeg 16yo maybe?) and has been created from ex-Bourbon barrels. So quickly grab what is possibly the most under priced vintage Ardbeg ever, whilst you still can.
Tasting Notes: The initial impression is of eating an Ardbeg ice-cream on the beach - the combination of sea spray, creamy vanilla ice-cream, infused with hints of peat oil, finished with a drizzle of gooey fudge sauce. Cutting through this luscious sweetness is an exciting assortment of fennel and pine nuts, zesty limes and sherbet with a touch of geranium leaves and lavender.
Method of Production: Heavily peated malt was mashed with water from Loch Uigeadail to produce a wort, which was then distilled twice in the year 1990. After maturing on site for 16 years, specially selected ex-Bourbon barrels were vatted together and bottled without chill-filtration.
