Description: In its more familiar manifestation Glenkinchie is a subtle, fairly dry, aperitif style whisky. Having taken a nap in Amontillado casks from the Macharnudo district of Jerez, the malt takes on a new depth.
Tasting Notes: The malt has absorbed the clean, nutty character of Amontillado Sherry and finishes with a tangy slap on the palate.
Method of Production: The softest of the Lowland malts due to the large size of its two copper pot stills and the purity of its water which comes off the chaklky Lammermuir Hills. The spirit is aged for 10 years in old Bourbon casks, giving the whisky weight and smoothness before it was finished in Amontillado butts to add weight and a nutty tang.
