Tasting Notes: Spicy and full-on, followed by a wonderful maltiness - slightly smokey, firm yet soft, with a lingering Sherry-like finish.
Method of Production: Located in the Dufftown area, Balvenie takes its water from the Robbie Dubh spring that also supplies Glenfiddich. Balvenie malt 15% of the malted barley they use, fires of locally cut peat adding flavour. The Balvenies richness lies in the shape of the stills, they are short, enabling heavier, more flavoursome phenolic compounds to permeate the spirit. The whisky ages in ex-Bourbon barrels, taking mellow richness from the casks.
