Whisky Gold
Watch this live WebTV show as they delve deep into the World of Whiskies:
Show date: Wednesday 25th November 2009
Show time: 13.00
Why does Scotch whisky taste as it does and where do the flavours come from? Is mature whisky always worth spending more on, and what is the best investment for the collector?
For those new to whisky, this show will cover everything you need to know - whether you should add water to your whisky, and the type of glass you should drink it from.
Find out all you need to know and more by watching this live and interactive WebTV show with whisky expert and aficionado Charles MacLean.
Charles has spent almost thirty years researching, writing and lecturing about Scotch whisky. He was elected a Keeper of the Quaich, the industry's highest accolade, in 1992 for 'his services to Scotch'.
Charles will be tasting and analysing 5 different whiskies, ranging from an entry level Hakushu 12 year old malt Japanese whisky (retailing at £45) to a breathtaking 58 year old Dalmore Selene priced at £12,000 - one of only 30 decanters in the world. Also whetting Charles' palette will be a slightly less expensive Dalmore Candela at £7,500.
Completing the tasting menu is a limited edition Hazlewood Reserve 17 year old single malt - one of only 500 bottles made, and an Aberfeldy 18 year old single cask - both of which are exclusive to World of Whiskies.
You can also submit questions to whisky expert Charles MacLean before the chat

I will have to take a look in tomorrow lunch time to see what he has to say about the Dalmores, although they are a touch out of my price range, lol.

Mark there is a recording of the show online now. I am now just trying to decide whether to go for the Dalmore Selene priced at £12,000 or Dalmore Candela at £7,500

I just watched the show this afternoon, just need to decide which Dalmore to get now - the Dalmore Selene or Dalmore Candela. Interesting to know these are related to the Dalmore Oculus which sold for i think £27500 recently, so these are a bargain at £12000 and £7500, lol.
Mark, did you get a free bottle of one of the new Dalmores Charles Maclean tasted for getting your question read out.

I just watched it, i always assumed the big guns like Charles Maclean would have been given at least a bigger sample to assess a whisky, guess not when it is this expensive.
Didnt you get a bottle for getting your post read out Mark, i tyhought that was the norm in this type of event, i am sure Laphroaig gives you a botlle for contributing a question to their Laphroaig Live.

Mac | Unfortunately i never got as much as a miniature I dont think they even took my contact details when i submitted the question. I liked the way the presenter said a question just in from Mark when i had submitted it days earlier.

That is a poor show not to have offered you so much as a couple of miniatures.
