"Tropical" was absolutly the word i was looking for to describe the taste..It really is! I also have a unopened bottle stashed away but I want to save it. Have you tasted any other similar bottles I could try instead?

While i'm sure it doesn't compare with the 26 year old, this years irish 12 year old is remarkably good in my opinion. At £25 it's not a 'bargain' but even though i've already got far too much whisky i'm considering trying to get my hands on a second bottle to store away.

The Aldi whisky was a Bushmills I believe (others think it is a Cooley or Middleton) so maybe try some of them but I reckon the Aldi one was closer to IB than official bottlings. The Aldi 26 year had many similarities with a 24 year TBWC single Irish Malt at 46.8% bottled in 2017 with the horses head from Father Ted on the label

Don't think you will get as much bang for your buck anywhere. But suspect this was bushmills. Might be worth a look at gelstons ( also bushmills re badged) really enjoyed the 12yo Port cask tasted more than the £38 I paid. Tried ordering the 12yo rum cask but was out of stock at the time this was the same price and might fit the tropical taste bill. But I haven't tried it.

The Knappogue Castle range I think are Bushmills also.
