Oh I forgot to mention two more Xmas whiskies, one is completely out of left field:

Mackmyra Moment Fjällmark (very odd whisky this one)
Mackmyra Vinterglöd

Mackmyra Vinterglöd is one of my favourite winter whiskies, have got a bottle of Vintersol ready to crack open.

Rumdiariesblog.* and rumtastic.blog are both really good UK ones.
Thelonecaner.com is good but more "advanced" and he's in Canada.

The others ones out there don't seem to do that many reviews.

Cocktailwonk is amazing if you want to geek out on articles.
Bookmarked them all, thanks! I ordered a bottle of Doorly's 12yr last night in the amazon sale at £33.75 as well! :D

I've tried both bottles of rum that I ordered (Chairman's Reserve Spiced and Doorly's 12yr) and I've got to say that I found the Chairman's Reserve Spiced to be less "Christmas" in a glass and more "Downing Aftershocks in a Nightclub in my 20s" in a glass! First sip was quite extreme and I did settle into it a bit so I think I can finish off the bottle OK, but this stuff is a little to sweet and spirity for my taste. Spiced Rum probably just isn't for me - I don't mind flavoured/spiced whisky liqueur's like Drambuie and Red Stag, but I find them a bit too sickly to really drink beyond tiny quantities, and I guess Spiced Rum is a little too much like those kind of drinks.

Doorly's 12yr is bloody lovely though, at least as good as the El Dorado 12yr I'd previously tried and with strong notes of cinammon and orange and chocolate it actually felt quite christmasy to me!

Speaking of rum, did anyone get to trying the Aldi Crossbones Premium Dark Rum? A blend of Jamaican column and pot still rums. I spotted some left in my local Aldi. I'm no experienced rum drinker but finding it an enjoyable change.

Comparison with the golden variety
https://rumtastic.blog/2019/10/07/aldi-crossbones-premium-rum-mashup/
"Thoughts? Heh. Really pretty good. Lots of rich flavours, not much heat or astringency and easy to drink neat. It’d mix very well but honestly it’s easy peasy to drink it neat. I imagine this is what most people expect when they order a “dark rum” and it delivers on that expectation.

Just reading the bottle tag I knew that this one would be better than the Golden rum, it was the one I originally went for before I decided to get both; knowing it’s fully Jamaican rum is the kicker here as even industrial Clarendon column still rum is better than the vast majority of * from Central America, chuck in some heavy pot still and it’s game on.

£15, again. No thought needed, it’s an absolute bargain. I’d recommend going out and getting this one if you are a fan of dark rums, it blows away stuff twice it’s price. The only issue is that it’s on the Special Buy so you may find your local Aldi like mine; sold out of this. I guess that’s a fair indication of which one was better!"

A shoutout to Edradour Caledonia which really has that dense sherried Christmas cake thing going on a treat.
