|
|
This whisky has been aged in three different Verdejo Spanish white wine casks, which is a world first.
TOMATIN VERDEJO CASK TRILOGY CASK #3434 70CL 59.5%
TOMATIN VERDEJO CASK TRILOGY CASK #3435 70CL 60.2%
TOMATIN VERDEJO CASK TRILOGY CASK #3436 70CL 60.9%
“This is really exciting for us as I’ve never seen whisky aged in this type of cask,
The three casks were filled on the same day, matured next to each other, and bottled at the same time. But, each three barrels have produced a different whisky – the colours and flavour palates are unique. I call the three casks the triplets; they’re sister casks. The results show just how much the cask determines the flavour.â€
First 100 sets get a tantalus. Excellent presentation and reasonable priced given the current climate. Hats off to Aberdeen Whisky Shop.

I'll be cracking them open next weekend once my order arrives. |

Hope you bought the trio with the tantalus, and not the 3 separate bottles 🙂 |

Ordered the tantalus.
Thanks for sharing.
Great addition for my collection.
Edit. A bit disappointed the bottles didn't come with boxes when getting the tantalus. Much prefer to keep them boxed in storage. |

Thank you for the heads up. I bought one myself and received it today.
My tantalus handle seems to have been fitted a bit too short and the bottles don't fit, although when I twist the handle from vertical to horizontal, they fit. Does anybody else find this with their tantalus? |

Im glad it wasn't just me who had this problem! Mine's arrived today and very pleased with the overall product however as Lowlander stated the tantalus handle does seem to be made a bit short for the bottles. I had to be very careful not to damage the bottles trying to fit them in. _________________ A Dram a day keeps the wife at bay! |

Happy lad today here, my trio are in my hands now, but thanks for first timers on the handle. I sightly turned the handle and the bottles fit perfect as you gain a bit of space. Then rotate handle to display position. Easy. No issues and a cracking snug fit. Excellent craftsmanship in the whisky, labels and tantalus. All round top product.
I'll be opening mine this weekend, looking forward to trying these. |

I was worried at first, thinking I had a dud tantalus, but once I worked out to turn the handle it worked out beautifully. Unfortunately it looks really nice, that I almost don't want to ruin the look by drinking the whisky.
I'm planning on holding onto mine for a wee bit and dramming them for a special occasion. It would be good if we could get some reviews just so I know what to look forward to. |

Just wondering if anybody has tried these whisky's yet?
I notice that the tantalus trio is still available to purchase. |

I have opened 3, Ive had a few drams out of them. Typically an evening starts with 3 glasses, in cask number order and do my tasting. It has the Tomatin style coming through, I'm not good with tasting notes as just drink to enjoy but my favourite is the cask 3435.
I'm relatively new to Tomatin (last couple of years, but so far this year tried the 50, 36, 30, 1975 Warehouse 6, 2019 Highland Whisky Festival bottlings) and would say these 3 are very enjoyable as the history of these casks resting side by side for the same length of time developing different drams is unique. I don't have anything like this in my collection with 3 bottles from 3 similar casks. Dont get me wrong the Verdejo is youngish not in the same league as the premium, but price clearly reflects that.
I'm letting them sit and will be back to them in a few months to see what they are like after breathing a little. Thought the pricing was fair and Im thinking of buying another set just to keep and drink in 10 years. |

Thanks for the review Dave H.
I trust if you're thinking of buying another set, you'll do it direct with the shop. Some fool just spent £280 + additional costs on an auction site last week, when they could have bought the same thing direct from the actual shop for £255! |

Does anyone in the Central Scotland area have any of the empty boxes for these 3 bottles? The trilogy with the tantalus doesn't come with the boxes and I'd rather store them in the original boxes. |

Spotted another one at auction on Whisky Auctioneer tonight, I'd say it was worth it. Ended up not buying another set as dithered too long and were sold out. Slowly drinking through the 3 of them but quite a bit to go and letting them breath more, looks good on display in the dining room even if the wife says otherwise. |
