On a few British auctions this is reaching upwards of £3000, it is obviously worth anywhere near that but for rarity value it is something different as it contains Malt Mill whisky as its main component. Malt Mill closed in 1960 within Lagavulin distillery after failed attempts to re create whisky similar to Laphroaig (originally). The filM `Angel`s share` by Ken Loach was about Malt Mill. The British version of this states from Malt Mill Distillery om the label and is called Mackies Ancient Scotch.

This is a quality aged whisky, bottled late 40`s I believe.

Nose
A good expressive nose and I have high hopes, this smells old, syrupy & waxy.
Honey, orange, a hint of ginger, warm brioche/cake dried fruit peels and a touch of menthol coming through after a few minutes.
Also a lovely warm dough angle when it is rising.

Taste
Bingo, classic old blend profile with some peat to boot, it is a dark honey note with this one but there is a metallic note, possibly from the spring cap?
Sweet, very sweet in fact the sherry, peat and spice are in harmony the only negative is the slight metallic taste. luckily it is not too much and only slightly detracts Caramel notes emerge and the faintest hint of liquorice root.

Finish
The spice stays and also the sweetness and cake, the metallic is still there, which prevents a mega score.
