Nose
Rich dark fruits, obviously massively sherried but appears more sherried than cask 512 of American Oak.
Something slightly meaty about this one, hints of cinnamon, fig, maybe a little prune, old polished leather.
Yes the oak is in there but at the moment subdued by the sherry.
After about 5 minutes some cherry notes emerge and the faintest of orange liqueur.

Palate
Compared to cask 512 this is less balanced, rougher and immediately much more oak and dryness which is really hard for me to overcome, I am sensitive to bitterness but lets continue.
The spice really ramps up, stewed dark fruits and getting hot, not quite as woody but this one really has been in the cask far too long.

Finish
Liquid oak almost, this one is way past its best and the metallic note it leaves in your mouth is too much to bear

This is not as good as cask 512 1961, I know it was nice to compare two casks of the same age but If you pay £15000 for a full bottle you would expect to enjoy it.
This is way past its sell by date and if I paid 15k for a full bottle I would be crying rivers by now.

Yes there will be a premium for it being the joint oldest bottling of Longmorn ever and, I am sensitive to woody bitterness but this really is a £200 whisky taste wise, if that.
Leave it for collectors, if you are a drinker and have money to spend on a special treat my advice, leave this well alone.
Cask 512 is much better
