Hi
I normally only drink malts these days but I picked up a bottle of bell's original recently as a backup and was really pleasantly surprised at the quality. I found the finish better than grants which is another blend I have tried in the past few weeks. It's sweet and spicy and a hint of smoke. Pretty smooth as well. Apparently the malt used is mainly Blair Athol, who do a lovely 12 year old malt, but also Caol Ila, Glenkinchie, Dufftown and Inchgower. Anyone else think it has got better over time? I'll certainly be picking up another bottle for the odd 'cheaper' dram. |

I do enjoy the occasional blend, I dont have a favourite but out of what I would consider the entry level blends I do enjoy Teachers, Bells, Grants and the Famous Grouse, the only big brand which I was never keen on is Whyte & Mackay. |

I do like Teachers but usually but the Scotch blended whisky I would pour more often than others is Johnnie Walker 12 Black Label |

I was brought up on Grouse, it was the first blend I drunk regularly before graduating to single malts so I have a soft spot for it, it is always what I order if in a bar which has no single malts but most do these days. I thought Grouse Mellow Gold was very good. |

Not had the latest Bells and about 12 -15 years ago the quality was not great but I have had some Bells from the 70's and 80`s that was pretty good and flavoursome. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |
