Some are afraid of oxidation some losing value of their collection and some.... So how many open bottles you have currently?
I got around 80 bottles and about 25 of them are open. I usually put last 10cl to 10cl sample bottle to keep it fresh. |

Just spotted this poll, I always have a round 30 - 50 opened at any one time, around 20 of these would be regular drams which I replace when finished. |

I once kept a bottle open for over a year and when I tried it then, the whisky's profile was ruined. It went bitter. It was a nice whisky too, the most expensive one I had bought in my whisky journey so far. It also helps me stay disciplined in drinking and finishing a bottle before making another purchase. It's easy for me to buy more than I can drink in a year, so I only allow myself to replace what's finished with a new bottle. |

Usually have 4-8 open at one time. Go through them fairly often. Left a bottle of Highland Park 18 open with a low level too long and it was ruined. Very mindful of that not happening again. |

Thanks!! | I would say max 2 years in the bottle or decant the remaining whisky into a smaller bottle. This can vary depending on how good the stopper on the bottle is, but must modern stoppers are air tight. |

anywhere from 10-15 usually and I also take 10cl out as soon as the bottle is opened for the years to come.
For lower abv bottle I also decant when the level is a quarter to a third in the bottle, 60% stuff lasts a lot stronger for obvious reasons and many high strength malts benefit from a little air. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

I always have around 10 bottles open at any one time these days but this can almost double when more than a few are coming to an end. |
