Top Malt Being one for a bargain,I recently obtained a bottle of Dalwhinnie Winters Gold when it was on a special offer locally...-wonderful !...it displayed the elegance & lightness expected from a Highland malt, but also a superb underlying sweetness normally associated with some Speysiders.Dalwhinnie have always produced whisky that appeals to me but this one was a revelation.Certainly one to reserve a permanent spot in my varied cupboard of single malts.

I do like the Dalwhinnie Winters Gold but personally preferred the Dalwhinnie 15 year old which has become rare to find in the big high street supermarkets and rarely seen on offer these days as they push the Dalwhinnie Winters Gold.

For those who have tried it, is it best tried chilled? Frozen? Or just plain old out of bottle normal? Haven't tried this so thoughts would be appreciated..

No need to reply as sorted it already,.. Anyway it's in my view totally fine straight out of bottle, no need to chill or freeze,, spice, fruit and a wee bit of bite enough to keep me happy,, it's been out a while but at last I tried it and totally was ok with it..

Seems to be a marketing ploy. The gimmick is to drink it cold, but nobody will like it if they don't like all their scotch cold.

The 15 is much better.

At a whisky tasting get together with a few whisky drinking enthusiast friends at the weekend we had a blind tasting of the Dalwhinnie 15 and the Dalwhinnie Winters Gold basically to see which one we all preferred, all 8 of us choose the Dalwhinnie 15. Done the same test with Talisker 10, Storm and Skye, with 6 out of 8 preferring the 10 year old and one vote each for the Skye and Storm.
