|
|
Here are my taste notes from this afternoon for:
Jim Beam Black 6 Year Triple Aged Kentucky Bourbon
Color-Shiny Amber
Nose: Apple cider absorbed on a blotter laying in a corn field in August. Half-sour kosher pickles fresh out of the barrel manifest themselves. Sour cherries raise their heads and switch allegiances to a somewhat sweeter profile over time with hints of sweetened stewed rhubarb. A flash of bulrushes (cattails) enters the picture with delicious peaches and cream corn on the cob.
Taste: Long legs and full-bodied. Very smooth and creamy; an array of spice, especially pepper evolves to dark toffee notes and a memorable surge of oaky brilliance.
Finish: Long, dark cherry lozenges, the oak developing a syrupy somewhat sweet halo. A scoop of berries and vanilla bean ice cream is served late.
Comments: The nose on this bourbon is quite unique and offers much in tripling the age standard for straight bourbon. The 6 year designation refers only to age and not cask type which is solely charred white oak. The palate incorporates spice, sweet and oaky tones. The finish is robust and entertaining.

Murray- great review as always. This is one of my 'go to bourbons' given the price to quality ratio. I have found that I always let the liquid linger longer than others as it has an awesome viscosity, taste and finish. Reading this has made it to back to the top of my purchase list as I've not got any hanging around |
