Here's my first time taste notes from today for :

Gibson's Finest Rare 12 Year Canadian Whisky 40%abv.

Color- "Extra Sunny Day"

Nose: Sweetness of maple corn on the cob silk infuses immediately with shades of freshly baked strawberry rhubarb pie. Luscious young celery heart strikes a chord.

Taste: Full-bodied, creamy smooth, burnt sugar syrup and layers of spice covering dark caramel evolve. Flecks of several varieties of pepper take a bow in succession. There is a toasty oak patina here.

Finish: Long, prune nectar, earthy tones and vintage leather signal the age factor here. The celery note reappears but more so in favor of the outside older stalks. A backdrop of mild black licorice is noticed.

Comments: This 12 year old Canadian whisky is enjoyable and has signs of pedigree as it metamorphoses from nose to finish.. The fact that the finish is as distinguished and bold as it, impresses and builds solid after-taste over time.

Rating: 85

*** I rated this whisky significantly higher than Jim Murray and I beg to differ with him on this one.

Sounds worth a try Murray, I still haven't seen Gibson's here.
