Following a successful limited run in Ireland Jameson are now releasing Jameson Caskmates worldwide.

It was created by the Midleton Distillery in collaboration with micro-brewer, Franciscan Well Brewery in Cork. More info and a short video explaining Jameson Caskmates in more detail here.

This sounds very interesting William using stout barrels for the Irish whiskey. I tried stout a few times when i visited England in 1979 and a few times since and I can see the sort of influence it might have. I always thought it tasted of prune nectar.

Reviving an old thread... has anyone tried this?

I've loved the bottle of standard Jameson that I'm just coming to the end of and I'm also a fan of dark beers, so this looks tempting as a replacement.

I have had the Jameson Caskmates and thought it was very good, a oaky honeyed sweet Jameson definitely worth a try so is many of the Jameson blends.

Excellent, thanks for that! The only ones of those I've seen about is the Jameson Crested. I'll have a read up and I'm pretty sure my wishlist will be expanding even further.

I really enjoyed the sweet honeyed aspect of the standard Jameson that I picked up on. The bottle has gone down in near record time.
