I have an old bottle of Pinch. My father gave it to me years ago. He received it from someone else. I have neve seen a Pinch bottle like this. The bottles from the 1940's to present all have some kind of foil or stickers on them. They mostly had a cork. The bottle i have has a metal lid with a wire around the edge and it is twisted to keep it on. On the top of the lid it says HAIG & HAIG. On the side of the lid it says KORK-N-SEAL REG-MADE IN SCOTLAND. The bottle is the dimple shaped kind. The only printing on the glass itself is PINCH. Embossed in the glass near the top in the back it says FEDERAL LAW FORBIDS SALE OR RE-USE OF THIS BOTTLE. Embossed on the bottom of the bottle it has a kind of scrolling around the edge. The writing embossed on the bottom is

10 HAIG & HAIG LTD SCOTLAND

Curiosity has gotten the best of me and I would like to know more about this bottle of whisky. It is still full so I guess the seal is OK. I do enjoy a good whisky mostly single malts. I am glad I found your website.

Thank You

Hi Bill

You would probably get a better response posting in the "Whisky Collectables & Whisky Auction Listings" section of the forum.

I am sure a moderator can move you postng for you ( William or John should be around somewhere.

Meanwhile have you taken a look in The Whisky Exchange shop to see if they have any bottles similar to yours.

Hi this is what i know about Pinch.

Haig called it Pinch in the US but named it Dimple in Europe. Today the brand is owned by the mighty Diageo but it first appeared in 1890. Today it is a blend consisting of more than 30 whiskies including a number of Diageos treasured reserves of of the most matured highland malts.

The distinctive shaped bottle was first introduced by G O Haig and was noted for the hand applied wire net over the bottle which was to prevent the cork popping out in warm climates.

The unique 3 sided Pinch bottle was the first 3 sided bottle to be registered as a trademark in th USA. though they didnt apply for the trademark until 1958. Today there is a 12, 15 and 18 year old available.

Sorry that doesnt really tell you what you have. Have you tried looking in whisky specialist shops online you can find these bottles listed under either Haig, Dimple or Pinch. You may get lucky and see one similar to the bottle you have.
