As someone who was raised on blended whisky many years ago before stepping up to single malt whiskies I wondered what your blended whisky of choice is. What brought it to mind is that I noticed that the annual battle for sales has begun in the big supermarkets amongst the top selling blended whiskies with a few now available for £15 for a 1 litre bottle. What would be your choice from the entry level top selling blended whiskies.
Personally my choice would be Grants |

A good idea for a poll James, I am sure most of us developed our taste for whisky starting with these 5 whiskies.
Personally my choice of blended whisky from this 5 is Teachers with its touch of smoke with Grants a close 2nd.. |

Great idea for a poll Jim, it will be interesting to see how it pans out as i would think all whisky drinkers have tried all of these. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

Funny, and I was just about to say I haven't had any of these! I guess my route towards appreciating single malts was a bit unusual since I didn't really drink whisky at all until a friend introduced me to Laphroaig and Talisker, and for a few years they were the only whiskies I drank until I started exploring other malts. |

I'm with you, I know what goes into them so I'd chose grants, but I've only had it once and the others I've not. I went straight into malts too, and the only blends I drink are the good ones, ie none of these

The thing I like about Famous Grouse are the variations of expressions such as the Black Grouse Alpha and particularly the Famous Jubilee Edition commemorating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, etc. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Why are these the only 5 to choose from because they are all pretty dire to be honest?
Apologies for my plain speaking but in the main they are caramalised crap the Whyte & Mackay being the chief culprit.
I have just opened a Buchanan`s 12 year from Portugal 43.28% from the early 80`s and I would not swap it for those 5 together
Is the vote just limited to what is readily available in supermarkets?
Old Teacher`s is very different from what they are doing today IMHO. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

The way I read it is this poll wasn't to do with what these blends may have tasted like in the past but about your choice of the top 5 best selling entry level blends today (or 2014 when the pole was posted). |

But that is problem, none of them are very good and would not be in my top 5 or even on a list of blends to look out for. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |
