|
|
Hey,
My Gran worked at the Justerini & Brooks factory, and when she retired was given a load of whisky and bits and pieces. She has since died and left all of the very old whisky to my Dad (who doesn't drink whisky but would never sell it out of sentimentality).
Anyway, whilst she was still alive she gave me a watch, which I believe is filled with whisky. It has a leather J & B strap and a J & B branded face. I can't find any trace of one on the internet and wanted to know if it was rare or collectable? It has just sat in my drawer for the last fifteen years, probably never worn by anyone ever.
Thanks for any help,
Alec. |

Hi Alec
I would say that the watch is quite a unique piece of whisky memorabilia, but i wouldnt like ti hazard a guess to its value.
If you contact Mctears or Bonhams auctions who both specialise in whisky auctions they may be able to estimate a value for you. You should be able to contact them via there web sites
www.mctears.co.uk and www.bonhams.com |

Calder - I will post here when I decide what I'm doing with it.
McTear's have offered to auction it for me, I'm waiting on them getting back to me with a valuation before I commit to it. I don't know if they're selective about what they choose to auction or if they agree to enter any old rubbish just to get a fee? I've never auctioned anything before.
Thanks everyone for the help so far,
Alec. |

McTears will happily auction it for you as they cant lose out as they get a fee. It is difficult to put a price on and probably quite unpredictable to how it would go in auction. It is a good idea to wait for there estimate of its value before deciding whether to sell or not. |

TBH you may get more interest if you fitted a new battery and got it working. You will struggle to get many bids if it doesnt work. |
