Just got myself a great bargain in Asda, a bottle of The Balvenie Doublewood for only £18.
Also noticed that they have
Bruichladdich Rocks for £18.98,
Glenfiddich Caoran for £18,
Glenlivet 12 for £18,
I am tempted to back tomorrow and pick up another doublewood and a bottle of the Laddie Rocks as i havent had it yet.

Alastair | Thought i would update this in case any of you are planning on a trip down to Asda. I went to get another bottle of Balvenie Doublewood this afternoon and the offer has finished and the price is back up to £26.83
This must be some sort of marketing technique by Asda to put a great offer on for a very short period then wait for word of the offer to get out then withdraw the offer. Glenlivet and the Glenfiddich Caoran have also went back to normal price. The Laddie Rocks is still available for £18.98.

Dam i missed the Balvenie Doublewood offer then. Alastair I have also noticed that asda do some very short lived offers on there whisky, maybe it is some sort of marketing ploy.
Anyway just found this site tonight and i think i will be a regular visitor to this whisky offers & bargains section.

Hi,
I'm actually teetotal now, but liked a drink in the past. Just to let you know I've just bought 6 bottles of Glenmorangie 15 year old, in Asda's in Portsmouth. It was, not on sale, but was selling at £15 a bottle. I'm not joking (the cheapest I've ever seen it before was last year in Tesco's for £24ish). I cleared the shelf as I've now got my Christmas and birthday gifts for friends sorted out, for some time. Thought you guys would want to know. As I've been searching around I've seen that it's discontinued? Their site only shows the 10 and 18 year. If anyone can let me know why this is, I'd be interested. As I buy this brand for friends on a yearly basis. I'm happy as larry that I've saved £15 a bottle, maybe that's why it's so cheap, but short of phoning up the distillery, I thought I'd ask you guys? anyway, might be worth checking out your local Asda's, as others may be offering it at the same price, either that or it was a mark up error.
Appreciate any answers. |

Thanks for letting us know. Asda is odd sometimes as they dont always mark there price reductions as being on sale. It is a very nice dram, quite a rich dram for Glenmorangie, i would say you have bought some decent gifts their. I dont ever recall seeing it available in my local Asda but i will certainly have a look for it tomorrow if it is £15. I havent heard of it being discontued but mabe someone else here can verify that.

That is a great bargain you got, i suspect it was some old stock your local Asda found in the store. A while back Asda sold off all Glenmorangie bottlings at very low prices when Glenmorangie revamped and repackaged their whole range and done away with the wood finishes and 15 year old and replaced them with the new range including the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban and Glenmorangie Nectar D'or and Glenmorangie 15 Year old Sauternes Wood Finish.
You can still find the old 15 year old bottles around in shops such as The Whisky Exchange for around £40 so you got a good bargain at £15 the new 15 Year old Sauternes Wood Finish is around £50 a bottle.

The Laphroaig CS wasnt available in the Asda i went to
I hate it it when one store has an offer on and it isnt available in another. I will try a bigger Asda about 10 mile from me at the weekend.
