I noticed over at The Whisky Exchange that the Highland Park 21 year old 47.5% abv version appears to be back after a few years of being bottled at 40% which wasnt near as good.

Just wondered if anyone has tried the recent 47.5% version of the HP21, is it back to its old self Question

Cheers, James

I have had a bottle recently James and IMO it is as good as it used to be. I see in Jim Murrays Whisky Bible he says that some sulphered sherry has sneaked into to it, whether i had a different batch or not i didnt detect any sulphur, perhaps i am not as sensitive to sulphur, either way the bottle i had was excellent.

I have had the Highland Park 21 recently and it was excellent as ever, i didnt pick up any off sulphur notes as chris says it could have been a different batch from the one Jim Murray reviewed. If you fancy splashing out a bit more the Highland Park 25 year old is really outstanding.

I didnt realize they had went back to bottling the Highland Park 21 at 47.5%, good to know as the 40% version was very disappointing. I guess it isnt a travel retail exclusive now.

Mac the Highland Park 21 has now joined Highland Park's permanent portfolio of 12, 18, 25, 30 and 40 but only here in the UK and even then supply of the HP 21 is limited.

I added a bit to the Whisky News section
