Hi

I would appreciate if you could recommend some malt whisky which would be good as a Christmas gift for my malt whisky fanatic husband. I am looking for at least one malt that says "Christmas" if you see what i mean.

I am probably be looking at a budget of around £200, I would guess i would get 2 or 3 decent quality malts for that.

Thanks

Hi Caley

I think a sherried malt says Christmas and you wont get much better sherried malts than The Macallan 18, 25 and 30 year old.

Another option is the excellent and delicious Glenfarclas 30 year old Top Malt , it is like a rich christmas fruit cake in a glass.

I agree Big Mac a sherried malt does say Christmas.

Caley, you may want to look at the new Glenfarclas (sherried malt) Family Casks collection, i think prices start around £100 they offer a vintage bottling for the years from 1952 until 1994.

As already said Christmas wouldnt be Christmas without a sherried malt to sip on once the turkey dinner has settled.

Others whiskies i would recommend which would make a very special whisky gift but they are not sherried malts:

Ardbeg 17 Year Old
Talisker 20 or 25 Year Old
Highland Park 25 Year Old
Balblair 1979
Balvenie 21 Year Old Port Wood Finish

For £200 i would have the Lagavulin 25 year old and the Glenfarclas 15 year old (for the touch of sherry)

You would be hard pushed to find a Macallan 25 under £200, i think it goes for around £230 now, but if you dont mind the price tag it is a excellent whisky.

I have had the pleasure of the Glenfarclas 30 and can recommend it.

Davy's suggestions are all very good also.

I will have a closer look at your other suggestions tonight.
