Hi, I'm looking for some advice. My Father in Law has asked me to have valued a Macleod's Isle of Skye 21yr old blended whisy in a blue ceramic (maybe porcelain bottle) It is sealed, he doesn't have the box but the bottle is in tact and sealed. I wonder if you could help me answer the following questions:

1. I know its been bottled about 15yrs ago but don't know how I identify exactly when, is that possible from the bottle

2. Where can I have it vlaued?

3. What can I expect it to sell for in todays market.

I have pictures and can send them on if required.

Many Thanks
Claudette

Hi Claudette

There was a new bottle of the Isle of Skye 21 which came out in 2008, it is in a navy blue decanter and sells for around £150.

I think the earlier decanter was a light blue decanter which may still be available in some shops for around £150 does this sound like your bottle?

Remember these are shop prices that i mention and usually you may only get half that price in a private sale but you also have to consider that you do not have the box which will affect the value.

As far as where you can sell it, here are a few options:

You could try ebay which can sometimes fetch most money.

There are a couple of auctions which specialise in whisky who should be able to advise you on a pvalue and sell it for you, these are:
www.mctears.co.uk/departments/whisky.aspx
www.bonhams.com/eur/whisky/

Another option is you could try contacting The Whisky Exchange via there website as they buy as well as sell whisky

I hope this helps
