Not tried the 29 yet but the Irish will be the better one I think, end of the day it's 55 years of aged whisky for £80 so no brainer .

I HUGELY enjoyed the 28yo Glen Marnoch last year, and my ladywife was primed to get more this year on her trips to South Wales. (It was particularly good with salted caramel chocs.)
The 29yo this year sounds a bit subtle for me - "light and floral"? That's a Laura Ashley dress, not a drink for gentlemen.
"Delicate palate", "gentle spices", pfft.
She reports there's plenty in Caerphilly.
I will definitely be having a bottle of their Mulata Rum when it comes in.
Yes, it's a racist name and a sexist label, but I had Mulata in Cuba and remember it being very good, and expensive to buy at the airport. £18 well worth a punt.
But does anyone know about the "2002 Chevalier Champagne Cognac"?
What does the 2002 mean - surely not 15yo?
I think "Chevalier" is Aldi re-badging someone's over-production.

Anyone tried the Irish yet?
Plenty of it in South Wales, I'm feeling tempted.
A few Mulata, plenty of the 29, but no cognac yet.

I got a bottle of the "2002" Champagne Cognac for £30.
I was going to save it till Xmas, but couldn't wait.
It's very good.
Bit of citrus on the nose, light and floral, and very tasty.
I particularly enjoyed it as a digestif.
I'll be getting a few more, I think, particularly as I'm less excited by their whiskies this year.

A colleague said he enjoyed their Solo grain whisky last year. Especially as he got it in the sale for £14.99

It did look like perfume. I'll take your word for it on the taste since I didn't get to try any.

Yes, I did find last year's 29 year old a bit disappointing. The Irish was much better.

Nothing wrong with the Irish 26 , saying that a higher strength would have been welcome.
