I have just got a bottle of the Maxwell today as with others i used a £5 voucher and was the last bottle in the store.
My first taste was tempered with a few reservations as the packaging (box labels and stopper) looks cheap but on opening and tasting i was pleasantly surprised (books and covers).
I take mine with a drop of water and first taste for me is quite zesty/citrusy which goes through to a nice long sweet fruity finish.
I'm by no means an expert but for the £25 i paid this is a very smooth drinkable whisky and certainly glad i took a chance and grabbed a bottle. |

I also purchased a bottle today for £25 using the £5 off voucher out of the paper!
And again got the last bottle on the shelf!
Not bad 28yo for £25 and a limited edition also to 3,600 bottles
Post some notes later once i open it! |

Tempted to say Maxwell's 28-year-old isn't worth the money so that I can get more for myself. Bought one from my local Lidl's and went back for another. Will try for a third on Sunday but could be unlucky as they only started with six!
Packaging and labelling is about as cheap and nasty as it gets but it's a very decent drink taken neat or with a drop of water. Truly smooth and very satisfying on a cold day. Great value and not a compromise on quality.
8 year-old Irish in Lidl's might be worth a try. _________________ Redstick |

It contains a bottle of the Kilbeggan blend, Greenore single grain whiskey, Tyrconnell single malt and the peated Connemara single malt and at a decent price of £9.99. |
