Cotswolds Lord Mayor’s Reserve is a new limited edition which has been released to help raise money for Lord Mayor’s Appeal charity,  a charity that aims to make London a more inclusive city.

Cotswolds Lord Mayor’s ReserveThe Cotswolds Distillery has announced the release of the Cotswolds Lord Mayor’s Reserve, a new limited edition single malt whisky which they are releasing in aid of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal – a charity that aims to make London a more inclusive city.

Cotswolds Lord Mayor’s Reserve is a limited release of 691 bottles, a number which pays homage to the 691st Lord Mayor, Peter Estlin, who is a keen whisky fan and part owner of the Cotswolds Distillery. To create this special bottling several of Peter's personal casks have been blended with the first ever release of a sherry cask-aged whisky.

Cotswolds Lord Mayor’s Reserve is a combination of three different casks, first-fill American bourbon and American Oak red wine barrique casks from the Lord Mayor’s private reserve and a ex-Pedro Ximenez Sherry butt. The new-make spirit was filled to cask at 63.5% ABV in the Lord Mayor’s ex-bourbon casks and shaved, toasted and re-charred American oak red wine barrique. During this time they also filled a 500 litre ex-Pedro Ximenez Sherry butt with new-make spirit, which was left to age for 3.5 years.

These three casks were blended in roughly equal measures and then re-casked for an additional month. Cotswolds tell me that the addition of the sherry cask has added a different layer of spice and fruit to the flagship single malt you may already be familiar with.

Daniel Szor, Founder of the Cotswolds Distillery, said: "We’re really proud to make such a fine whisky for such a worthy cause on behalf of a prestigious distillery family member. We began making this release the same way as our flagship single malt but have been able to experiment and create a distinctive blend that we hope will help the Lord Mayor’s Appeal."

The special limited release bottling has been bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and naturally coloured and has an RRP of £64 with part of the proceeds of each sale going to the Lord Mayor's Appeal and you will find it exclusively available from the Cotswolds distillery website.

If you haven't yet tried it, you will also find the still relatively new Cotswolds Single Malt and Founders Choice whiskies available from specialist online whisky retailers such as The Whisky Exchange and Master of Malt
