Bowmore
Unveils An Exceptional Limited Edition
Whisky
The Bowmore
1982
Bowmore,
the first Islay Single Malt whisky, has
released an exclusive limited edition,
the second in their vintage series, the
Bowmore 1982. Aged for 29 long years in Bowmore’s Number 1 Vaults, this rare
expression was matured in warehouses
beaten by the waves of the North
Atlantic. Available from the end of
June, the limited edition vintage of
just 501 bottles is the ultimate
collectable for the outdoors and whisky
enthusiast.
The unique location that is Islay shapes
the unique taste and character of
Bowmore Single Malt. The whisky began
its life as the finest raw ingredients:
water from the Laggan River flavoured by
the rich Islay peat, the finest barley,
and nature’s miracle worker – yeast.
Bowmore is one of only six distilleries
in Scotland that still produce their own
floor malted barley. The team of
dedicated Maltmen turn the barley every
four hours using traditional wooden malt
shovels and hand drawn machinery.
Following on from the Bowmore 1981, the
first vintage release in 2010, the 1982
whisky has matured in hand-selected fine
oak casks below sea level in Scotland’s
oldest maturation warehouse. During its
long sleep, the Distillery Manager and
his team have worked tirelessly to
create the best-balanced Islay Single
Malt.
Presented in a wooden gift box with a
‘weather-beaten’ brown leather strap and
copper buckle, each bottle is also
accompanied by a hand-signed, numbered
certificate signed by the Distillery
Manager Eddie MacAffer. Eddie, who has
been working at the distillery for over
40 years, commented on the expression:
"I’ve watched over this fine vintage
from the day it was laid to rest 29
years ago through its long maturation in
the unique cold, damp atmosphere and
salty air in the No 1 Vaults. The
Bowmore 1982 is a challenging and
rewarding dram, ideal for a man who
appreciates the outdoors and the
challenges it brings."
The Bowmore 1982 is a limited edition of
only 501 bottles and was
bottled at 49.6% ABV. It will be
available from specialist whisky
suppliers from June 2011, with an RRP of £300.
